ABOUT

Yoga and meditation have played a major part in my life for many years.

During this time and through the daily application of yoga, I have come to learn that yoga can provide us with the tools to heal our physical, mental and spiritual bodies, if we understand how to work within our own physical and mental limitations. Letting go of effort and surrendering to our body’s innate wisdom creates the space for growth within us (you may be familiar with that inner voice that tells us to push through physical pain to achieve a result, when deep down we know it’s not always a good idea).

Working with the breath is of particular importance to me as it is through the breath that we really begin to move deeper into both our yoga and meditation practices. Leading our yoga practice with a focus on the breath can move us into a sense of stillness both literally, through flowing postures and mentally, through static postures.

“One of my greatest joys is to witness the positive effect yoga has on my students”.

My classes promote a balance of strength and stability, as well as calm and relaxation and use the therapeutic application of yoga to help with injury/illness rehabilitation.

The fascination I have with human anatomy and the endless variations between every physical body have led me to continuously explore the effects of exercise. Laughter plays a big part in my yoga classes, after all laughter is a great therapy in itself. I make a point of encouraging students not take themselves too seriously.

My practice continually evolves through further training and study, bringing me insights which I integrate into my classes. I am a 500hr Hatha Yoga teacher and have also trained in Yin Yoga and iRest© – a deep meditative practice (also known as Yoga Nidra) which can help to reduce depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain and PTSD. One of my greatest joys is to witness the positive effect yoga has on my students and teaching yoga is what I have to give back as a way of saying thank you for this life. I am grateful to all my teachers and students for helping me to evolve into the yoga teacher that I am.
